What / who is Nyan Cat?
Nyan cat is an 8-bit animation featuring a cat with the body of a pop tart flying through the space leaving a rainbow trailer. Nyan cat became famous thanks to a youtube video (here) the background music is Nyanyanyanyanyanyanya by Japanese artist Daniwell
There is even a 100 hour video on youtube featuring this charismatic cat (here)
How did Nyan Cat come to be?
Chris Torres, the author of the image, drew the illustration based on his own Russian blue cat. During a Red Cross charity drawing event, he was presented with two different suggestions, a cat and a pop tart. He decided to join the suggestions and the nyan cat image was the result.
The image was uploaded to youtube with the song Nyanyanyanyanyanyanya and the rest is history.
